Customized solution for addressing ionic deficiencies identified by our review and comprehensive interpretation of customer-provided ICP analysis (which is performed free of charge).
Pricing shown is for up to 1 L solution of a variant type and formulation. For reference, 1 L of Minor/Trace/K/Br/B/F solution is often adequate for 30 days of dosing in systems with net volume ≤750 gallons, particularly when using an appropriately-formulated and -blended sea salt mix (such as Formul8 SimulOcean) to create and maintain the basis of the system's water chemistry. If a dosing solution calls for a total volume ≤500 mL, then the bottle shipped will contain 500 mL of solution; this approach reduces the mass of packaging materials and the volume of water being shipped to the customer (and therefore mitigates the associated carbon footprint) when ≤500 mL total solution is required.
There are two solution variants: Minor/Trace/K/Br/B/F and Mg/Ca/Sr.
The Minor/Trace/K/Br/B/F solution comprises of critical minor and trace elements, as well as K, Br, B, and F, as dictated by the ICP interpretation performed. Please scroll down to see the list of elements.
The Mg/Ca/Sr solution comprises of Mg, Ca, and Sr, as called for in the interpretation of the ICP data.
There are two formulation options:
- PURPLE (Standard) are formulated according to natural seawater values. These values are most suitable for the majority of aquarium enthusiasts who prefer to simplify their water chemistry goals by basing them upon natural seawater ratios, which have persisted on the planet for several million years and are therefore suitable for maintaining all manner of marine organisms within the confines of a recirculating marine ecosystem such as an aquarium. Purple tables incorporate the immediate dosing corrections required, and therefore provide a gradual increase in ionic values that is more gentle on system inhabitants than when making large, acute increases in ionic values over a shorter span of time. It is for this reason that purple tables are recommended for most system administrators/technicians and aquarists.
- RED (Advanced) are based upon user-defined target values, which may be quite different than standardized natural seawater values. Recommended is to have the interpretation of the most recent ICP analysis in hand before ordering 'red table' solutions, to ensure that the appropriate volume of MDS is ordered. If ordering according to red table calculations prior to having us perform the interpretation of ICP data, then anticipate that an additional charge may be applied if the volume of MDS exceeds the quantity that has been ordered. Note: F and Rb values may not be modified by the user. Clientele dosing according to their own target values should be sufficiently experienced such that they do not place their systems in danger as a result of their target ion preferences.
The default dosing period for the Master Dosing Solution is 30 days. We also offer a solution based upon 45 days of dosing. This option is useful for users who would like to build in an additional time frame beyond the 30 day standard period, during which time they will have drawn a new sample for ICP analysis and are awaiting results, and can continue dosing the critical component ions without interruption. Users are encouraged to draw a sample at the 30-day mark in order to mitigate the likelihood that dosing will be interrupted due to unforeseen delays in report interpretation and preparation/shipping of the next MDS.
The complete ordering process requires that the customer provides us with a copy of their ICP analysis, or a link to review it online. Following this, a customized master dosing solution is formulated and ships within 1 - 4 business days. The customer can further dilute this master solution with their own purified water if desired.
Elements which may be included in the Minor/Trace/K/Br/B/F master dosing solution:
- B
- Ba
- Br
- Co
- Cr
- Cu
- F*
- Fe
- I
- K
- Mn
- Mo
- Ni
- Rb**
- Se
- V
- Zn
*If F was not included as an analyte in the ICP analysis, then this element is excluded from the MDS.
**If Rb was not included as an analyte in the ICP analysis, then this element is excluded from the MDS.
An optional addition is a 30-mL bottle of Isol8 MT, including a dropper cap, for interim dosing if you have run out of the minor/trace MDS and/or are awaiting components to arrive for preparation of a new MDS. During such a period, Isol8 MT may be applied as a means of ensuring that ions critical to photosynthesis and associated biochemical reactions are continuing to enter the system on a daily basis. If desired, then Isol8 MT can be diluted into a larger volume of purified water and dosed through an automated approach or by hand. Once you have resumed dosing the MDS, discontinue dosing Isol8 MT. Dosing instructions are provided within the body of the email that accompanies the interpretation. Even in a densely-stocked 250 gallon reef system with algal filtration, a single 30-mL bottle of Isol8 MT will last 30 days.
